John Bozeman Performs in Collaborative Arts Concert at Belhaven University

2012 Feb 4

John Bozeman from Huntsville, Alabama will perform in Belhaven University's Collaborative Arts Concert on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Bozeman is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Belhaven University.

This concert is the only time when several departments from the Belhaven School of the Arts combine their efforts to collaboratively create works of art in paint, music and dance.

Each pairing of students will comment on their piece to illuminate their creative process before it is presented. Artists from each discipline take on the challenge to work together to communicate a message through his or her various forms of expression.

"This event springs from a widespread interest in exploring ways of collaborating, discovering effective approaches, and experiencing the resulting artworks," said Dr. Andrew Sauerwein, Assistant Professor of Music. "We hope it will invite and encourage more of what Bob Pennebaker has called 'aesthetic collaborations,' in which students and faculty in the various fine-arts disciplines explore and develop new works and new ways of working together."

After the concert, there will be a reception where the audience will get the chance to talk with the performers and creators and further their understanding of the collaborative process.

The concert is free to the public and starts at 7:30 P.M. in the Center of the Arts Concert Hall.
