Sarah Bravo Showcased New Music in Belhaven's Student Composers Concert

2011 Dec 13

Sarah Bravo from Cedar Glen, CA performed in the Student Composers Concert IX at Belhaven University. This special performance showcased several arrangements of music from the creative minds of Belhaven student composers. Bravo is a Senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Belhaven University.

Students performed their new music compositions live on November 15, at the Belhaven Center for the Arts Recital Room.

Dr. Andrew Sauerwein, Associate Professor of Music (Composition/Theory) said, "Student Composer Concerts are very interactive, often adventuresome and surprising. These newly-minted works are being voiced for the first time, and the composers love to connect with listeners, to interact, to discover good, true, and beautiful things together."

The program explored new ways to experience the art of music-making as the composers and performers open the windows into their creative worlds.

Students, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a Composition Emphasis, are taught to develop their gifts in the creative process in composition, improvisation, and songwriting.
