Belhaven University recognized outstanding academic, leadership, and service achievements during its 2025 Honors Convocation, held on Friday, May 2. Students from across the university's schools and programs were honored for their commitment to excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and Christian character. Belhaven's Honors Convocation is an annual tradition celebrating the culmination of students' hard work, perseverance, and faithful service.

The works of visual art and design majors Dajah Carter, Victoria Steinmetz, and Shannon Aardsma will be featured at the senior exhibition "Mementos and Moris."

Students from Belhaven University's Honors Program recently showcased their academic excellence at the Mississippi Honors Conference, held at Pearl River Community College. The Mississippi Honors Conference is a prestigious statewide competition where students from honors programs across Mississippi present their research and are evaluated on the quality of their work and presentation skills.

The works of visual art and design majors Savannah Wimberly, Lauren Watts, and Lilly Perkins will be featured at the Senior Fine Art Exhibition, August 26 - September 16. This exhibit, entitled "Autonomous Reverie," serves as a launching point for professional practice and allows the students to gain practical knowledge of museum work through the crafting and installing of their exhibit. As the culmination of their BFA and BA studies, this exhibit is a collective representation of each student's skill and mastery of visual art. The opening reception for the exhibit will be at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Art Gallery on Saturday, August 26, 2-4 p.m. Then on September 11 at 4 p.m., the artists will host a gallery talk to discuss their selected pieces of art. This exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours include Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. This is just one of the many exciting events from Belhaven's School of Arts. Faculty from Belhaven University's English and Creative Writing Departments honored four students excelling in the written arts. The winners of the Elizabeth Spencer Award 2023 are junior Ella Simmons, senior Maurissa Winford, junior Tara Teter, and junior Madilyn Hiley.

Belhaven University celebrated over 600 graduates at its Spring 2023 Commencement ceremony.

The Belhaven University Honors Convocation recently recognized the accomplishments the Class of 2022-2023.

Allie Gordon of the Belhaven Softball team has been named the Louisville Slugger Division III Player of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday. Gordon is joined by Belhaven Pitcher Kennedy Carruth who was named the Wilson Division III Pitcher of the Week by the NFCA.

Mississippi's American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) selected health administration major and Brandon, Miss. native Ms. Brett Woolwine to serve on its board of directors. She will represent all student chapters from Mississippi's colleges and universities. Woolwine is the second Belhaven University representative to take this prestigious role, replacing recent graduate Cole Gaddy.aaWoolwine will work face-to-face with healthcare CEOs from around the state. "As the student representative I will act as a voice for our student members of ACHE and the Mississippi Hospital Association," said Woolwine. "This role gives me a great opportunity to get an inside look into a career field that is hard to shadow. I get to talk with various C-suite executives and attend board meetings with various professionals. This role will prepare me to be a successful leader in healthcare by equipping me with valuable experience and knowledge." Belhaven's Director of Health Administration, Supply Chain Management, and Associate Professor Dr. Susan Duett said, "Serving on the board of ACHE will strengthen Brett's leadership skills and challenge her with new professional contacts, mentors, and friends in health administration. She is an outstanding student with a heart for service." Woolwine is already providing unique opportunities to her fellow peers. She has a special interest in organ recovery, and she recently asked the CEO of Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) Kevin Stump to speak at a Belhaven Future Healthcare Leaders (BFHL) meeting. Woolwine is pursuing a Bachelor of Health Administration in Belhaven University's School of Business. She serves as the president of the Belhaven Future Healthcare Leaders (BFHL) as well as the campus engagement coordinator for the Belhaven Leadership Council. To be considered for this role, students must be enrolled in a healthcare administration program, have a vested interest in health care administration, and demonstrate the potential to be a leader in this industry. A student representative is a non-voting board position representing the interests and views of local college and university students enrolled in one of the accredited programs that make up the ACHE Higher Education Network.

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A has published the peer-reviewed research of junior chemistry major Olivia Haney. "It is rare for an undergraduate student to get a published paper, even for larger research universities," said Chair and Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. Brandon Magers. "Many of our chemistry students participate in internships, but Olivia being an author of a peer-reviewed research article, goes above and beyond. Her lab experience, conference participation, and now-published research will make Olivia a top pick for a job or placement into graduate school."
