Belhaven University celebrated the academic excellence and outstanding achievements of its students during the 2026 Honors Convocation, held Friday, May 1, at 3 p.m. The annual ceremony recognized exceptional accomplishments across the university's schools, highlighting students who have demonstrated excellence in academics, service, leadership, and creative work during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Belhaven University's School of Nursing celebrated the achievements of its graduates during the 2026 Nursing Pinning Ceremony. This event is a time-honored tradition recognizing the academic, clinical, and spiritual formation of its students as they enter the nursing profession.

Belhaven's Art and Design Department will host its semi-annual senior show in the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts Gallery from March 21 - April 11.

Belhaven University's Department of Art and Design will present "Creative Medley," the 2026 Senior Art Exhibition featuring the work of graduating seniors Amari Strong, Edward Sias, and Imari Funchess. The exhibition will run Feb. 14 through March 7 in the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Art Gallery. An opening reception will be held Feb. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m., and a gallery talk with the student artists is scheduled for Feb. 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public. "Creative Medley" highlights a diverse range of creative expression, showcasing the individual artistic voices and culminating projects of Strong, Sias, and Funchess. The annual senior exhibition serves as a capstone experience for Belhaven Art and Design majors, offering the campus and community an opportunity to engage with emerging artists and their original work. The exhibition reflects the students' development in concept, craftsmanship, and professional presentation as they prepare to launch their careers in the arts. Belhaven University will showcase the works of graduating Art and Design seniors Allison Franklin and Emioluwa Akinyokunbo in a Senior Art and Design Exhibition. The exhibit highlights the culmination of their academic and creative development within Belhaven's Art and Design Department. On display January 17 through February 7, the exhibition represents both artistic achievement and a significant step toward professional practice. Senior exhibitions provide students with hands-on experience in presenting, curating and installing their work while articulating their individual artistic voices. The opening reception will be held January 17 from 2-4 p.m., with a gallery talk scheduled for January 26 from 4-5 p.m. Events will take place at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Art Gallery. Belhaven University recognized outstanding academic, leadership, and service achievements during its 2025 Honors Convocation, held on Friday, May 2. Students from across the university's schools and programs were honored for their commitment to excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and Christian character. Belhaven's Honors Convocation is an annual tradition celebrating the culmination of students' hard work, perseverance, and faithful service.

The works of visual art and design majors Dajah Carter, Victoria Steinmetz, and Shannon Aardsma will be featured at the senior exhibition "Mementos and Moris."

Students from Belhaven University's Honors Program recently showcased their academic excellence at the Mississippi Honors Conference, held at Pearl River Community College. The Mississippi Honors Conference is a prestigious statewide competition where students from honors programs across Mississippi present their research and are evaluated on the quality of their work and presentation skills.

The works of visual art and design majors Savannah Wimberly, Lauren Watts, and Lilly Perkins will be featured at the Senior Fine Art Exhibition, August 26 - September 16. This exhibit, entitled "Autonomous Reverie," serves as a launching point for professional practice and allows the students to gain practical knowledge of museum work through the crafting and installing of their exhibit. As the culmination of their BFA and BA studies, this exhibit is a collective representation of each student's skill and mastery of visual art. The opening reception for the exhibit will be at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Art Gallery on Saturday, August 26, 2-4 p.m. Then on September 11 at 4 p.m., the artists will host a gallery talk to discuss their selected pieces of art. This exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours include Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. This is just one of the many exciting events from Belhaven's School of Arts.
